“At Texaco we’re free to rock
the boat. To go with an unconventional idea when only a few can
see the potential. One of those ideas resulted in a major
development in gasoline technology.”
Dan Daly is a research
chemist at the Texaco Research Center in Beacon, New York.
He’s a member of the special team that developed
Texaco’s Clean System3 gasoline.
The challenge: to clean up
deposits in the intake systems of today’s high-tech
engines.
“We could have used a
pre-existing additive package. That would have kept us at par
with the current technology in the industry. But we chose to go
beyond that. To be innovative, even if it did mean taking a
risk.”
The result: a remarkable
system of gasolines that keep new cars running like new and can
help restore performance to older cars.

“KEEP IT CLEAN.”
“For five years Texaco’s
gasification technology lighted 100,000 homes with clean energy
from coal. We keep it clean with a gasification process that we
invented and perfected. It’s a very workable solution to
a difficult environmental problem.”
Madeleine Marchese is
General Manager, Marketing for Texaco Syngas Inc.
“Our coal gasification
process has produced over 2.5 billion kilowatt hours of
electricity for California. That’s a record no other coal
gasification process has even come close to.
“The Texaco process
has not only been proven economically, it exceeds the clean air
standards proposed by the Bush Administration. That proposal is
for the future. Texaco
is ready now. . .

“EVEN ON THE BATTLE LINE,
WE KEPT OUR EYE ON THE BOTTOM LINE.”
Through court battles, bankruptcy and a
proxy fight, we maintained healthy operating earnings,
increasing significantly this year.
Our return on equity has
placed us in the top half of our eight major competitors.
Today, as a new,
restructured Texaco, we’re more competitive than ever,
applying increased resources to supply energy all over the
world.
Our new team is taking the
offensive – in retail gasolines and motor oils,
credit-card marketing, finished lubricants, refining, chemicals
and worldwide oil exploration.
Last year our shareholders
supported our efforts to build the New Texaco.
This year we’re
proving that were right.

“WE’VE TRIMMED DOWN
TO A HEALTHY $26 BILLION.”
We are completing one of the largest
restructuring in the history of American enterprise.
We’ve trimmed down our assets
and increased our earnings.
And we’re once again a
leader in the toughest league in the world –
international oil.
We’ve sold assets that
have more value to others than to us and formed an historic
joint venture. Today, we’re an aggressive, healthy
international oil company with more than $26 billion in assets
and a 16.9% return on equity.
With the restructuring
proceeds, we’ve reduced our debt, increased our capital
investment and are rewarding loyal shareholders.
But the New Texaco is not
just the result of restructured assets, but of a renewed
entrepreneurial spirit that will keep us on a hurry-up offense
in marketing, ahead of the curve in energy exploration and a
visionary in new ideas and products.
We aim to be the most
admired, competitive and profitable company in our industry and
to further enhance the value of our shareholders’
investment.
That’s not just a goal
– that’s a commitment.

DON’T DO THIS TO
PENNSYLVANIA’S
WORLD-CLASS TELEPHONE SERVICES.
VOTE “NO” ON 667, 668, 669.
The three telecom bills now up for
consideration, if they become law, will place new rules,
regulations, costs, and burdens on the two largest providers of
telecommunications in Pennsylvania.
At the same time, the bills
will unfairly shield all out-of-state and other
telecommunications competitors from the same burdens.
The result will be unfair
competition with out-of-state concerns and force Bell Atlantic
to perform on an unlevel playing field – and that’s
not good for anyone, especially Pennsylvania’s consumers.
